What sets high-end designers apart? Some say it’s their ability to think outside the box and create fabulous designs that challenge the status quo and set new trends. Others say that it’s their memorable runway shows that gather some of the world’s influential figures. But, at the base of it all, it’s the quality and superior craftsmanship of their clothing items.

While we can all appreciate the practicality of cotton or linen, designer apparel fabric is all about glamour, class, and sophistication. It’s about fabrics that feel luxurious to the touch and stand out from a mile away.

At Albanian Lux, we love the luxury fabrics used in high-end fashion design, and they inspire us to create unique products every day. So, what fabrics do designers use most often, and what makes them so unique? Read on to find out:

Mesmerizing Silk

Whether you’re looking for aesthetics, quality, comfort, or durability, silk has it all. Silk is actually one of the most versatile fabrics in fashion design, and you’ll find it used in a wide variety of creations, from dresses and blouses to skirts and pajamas.

Silk feels incredibly luxurious to the touch and drapes beautifully on the body, which is why designers like Roberto Cavalli and Christian Dior choose it to dress their muses. You can buy silk fabric yourself to recreate iconic dresses but look carefully at the quality. 100% silk fabric may be more expensive but lasts twice as long compared to mixtures of silk and other fabrics.

Emotional Cashmere

Not many fabrics manage to look luxurious and effortless at the same time. Cashmere is one of them. If you want to take your basic everyday clothing to the next level and look well put-together while embraced by one of the softest materials, cashmere is one of your best choices.

Granted, it’s not the most affordable fabric out there, but the higher price tag is worth it.

Wow Satin

Satin and silk are very similar, and an inexperienced eye might not tell the two apart just from looking. However, there are some slight differences. While silk is glossy on both sides, satin is softer on the inside, so if you don’t like the feeling of silk against your skin, satin is an excellent alternative.

World-class designers like Valentino and Versace love satin, so their creations are a fantastic source of inspiration if you want to create your own design.

Queen feeling Velvet

From the royal robes of the 16th century to the modern haute-couture dresses, velvet has made a comeback, and designers seem to love its luxury and fluidity more than ever. Used alone or combined with intricate embroidery, velvet is one of the most glamorous designer fabrics for dressmaking, and, at Albanian Lux, we have curated beautiful velvet fabrics in our Velvet Lux collection.

Party Sequins

Who here remembers Blake Lively’s breathtaking appearance in a vintage sequin Chanel grown in 2017? Or Bella Hadid’s classic tailored sequin jumpsuits? We certainly do, which is why our Sequin Lux collection features luxury fabrics inspired by iconic sequin designs.

From the mesmerizing way it catches the light to the way it manages to turn the plainest dress to a work of art, sequins will definitely be staying in high-end fashion for years to come.
